Esay Bando’s street rap anthems are multiplying.
The Toronto rapper’s latest – the snarling, snapping “Westbound” – is the next step in a growing tradition of making some of the hardest dope boy records coming out of the city. In a world where saying less is more, this record speaks loudest of all.
“Westbound” joins “AMG” as the first singles since 2022 debut EP A Cinderella Story, a rich and varied 6-track project produced by Rich Kidd. As with the six tracks on that project, the music is about loss, growth, violence, greed and all the ways they intersect.
